Did You Say Chore's, Dear? Men's Reluctance To Change.

They might cook and on occasions they have been known to change a light bulb, but ask men to do the cleaning and the majority appear to go deaf.

Research shows that an astonishing 59 per cent pretend not to hear when their wives or girlfriends ask them to pick up a duster.

In fact they'll pull every trick in the book to avoid housework.

It seems men's aversion to cleaning has changed little with the passage of time - the only thing that has evolved is the pathetic excuses.

From pretending to be ill or simply disappearing when the cleaning products come out, it's no wonder the study revealed a third have never cleaned a toilet.

And ask them whether they think they do their fair share around the home and the vast majority shamelessly lie about their dismal contribution.

'Clearly we have a long way to go to achieve gender equality in the home, but we should recognise there's been progress,' said Scott Coltrane, professor of sociology and an expert in gender equality.

'I don't buy the idea that men avoid housework because they are no good at it. Incompetence is an excuse, not an explanation.

'The truth is that men probably find housework as boring as women do. Chores are, well, a chore. The interesting fact coming out is not that men avoid housework, but that so many brag about doing any at all.'A survey by cleaning company Spontex uncovered the devious excuses used by men to avoid domestic work.

All in all, the results make pretty grim reading for the unsuspecting woman.

More than seven in ten use flattery to get out of cleaning, telling their partner they are better at the task than they are and 39 per cent try to hide.

Yet the duplicity doesn't stop at the excuses, according to the research. The majority are happy to lie about how much housework they do. When asked about their attitude toward nine domestic tasks, they claim to do most of them without grumbling.

Forty-eight per cent of men claim to do the laundry without kicking up - but 69 per cent of their partners say they are lying.

In 2007, academics found cohabiting couples were more likely than those who were married to split housework evenly - but after the wedding they revert to stereotype, with women taking on the majority of tasks.

The study argued after taking their vows women become less likely to fight for their rights.

Biodiversity is a great thing, ensuring that our ecosystems have the ability to function and prosper, even at times of extreme events and disease. In 2012, The scientific research crew of the French vessel Tara discovered significant amounts of plastic particles off the coast of Antarctica.  Plastics have leaked their way into oceans as a result of human activity, and are having a murderous effect on marine life.
A Science Museum spokesman said: “These fragments cause serious damage to the ecosystem and release toxins into our bodies because they are eaten by the fish we eat",
The French vessel crews discovery sheds light on
the importance of reducing plastic waste – including packaging and disposable materials. Doing your part by not using plastic water bottles (and other disposable plastics) and recycling materials properly can help. Sharing this message with your friends might help even more.

Blessed are they who have learned to bear what they cannot change.
For every ailment under the sun, there is a remedy, or there is none.
If there be one, try to find it, If there be none, never mind it.
