Madonnas declaration to not compromise her artistic integrity can be seen as a refusal to negotiate away any of her artistic values or standards no matter who prefers or does not prefer her sense of integrity.
While a lack of compromise may be a good thing for integrity in creative expression, should this kind of integrity carry through into other areas of the artists life, business life for example, a refusal to compromise could mean the difference between a marketable artistic product and an un-marketable one. This does not mean that integrity does not survive where compromise lives, because it is important to note that the preferences of others also represents their artistic integrity. Where integrity is concerned, you are not alone in your stand for uncompromising behaviour. Too much uncompromising behaviour and the integrity the individual defends will find itself at war with the integrity another individual defends, unless a compromise is reached. When an artist brings integrity to the negotiating table, the quality of the agreement is what makes the difference between a successful contract and an unsuccessful one. So while standing up for what you value is good, so too is the recognition that others also have values that they care about. In this way compromising is a moral negotiation where a mutual sense of right and wrong is extremely important in the resolution of any stakeholder conflicts of integrity. However, should an artist not express integrity about what is and what is not an extension of themselves in terms of creative expression, their art would also lack in integrity. As art is about the transmission of emotion from one human to another, only art that is full of integrity is acceptable to Madonna. If Madonna's strong sense of artistic integrity was not acceptable to her her fans, she would not be in the Guinness Book of records as the most successful solo artist ever on the UK album charts. Madonna's refusal to not compromise her artistic integrity helped to earn her the change that she needed to be a successful pop music artist. Believing in your own artistic integrity can help you to earn real change, irrespective of what learning path you are on, because human creativity lies at the heart of all economic endeavor. Madonna is a fine example of how artistic integrity can bring very real change into the lives of those, who are prepared to work very hard at refining their artistic integrity, to such a high level of performance that people want to buy it. What do you think about compromise and acts of integrity? ~ Chan6es.
