![]() Horror in Christchurch in New Zealand at lunchtime today. A 6.3, 5km wide, shallow earthquake shook the heart of the City, instantly killing 65 people and trapping many others who are yet to be confirmed alive or dead. Financial industry workers, who survived the earthquake and its aftershocks, were seen carrying colleagues out of the destroyed office buildings, despite their own injuries. Emergency crews were on the scene within minutes. A group of doctors attending a medical conference near the crisis rushed to the disaster scene to help. http://www.smh.com.au/world/witnesses-scramble-for-cover-as-christchurch-crumbles-again-20110222-1b3cv.html

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror, and saw that she only had two hairs on her head, “H-M-M,” she said, “I think I’ll part my hair down the middle today.” So she did and she had a grand day. The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror, and noticed that she had only one hair on her head. “Well,” she said, “today I’m going to wear my hair in a pony tail.” So she did and she had a fun, fun day. The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror, and noticed that there wasn’t a single hair on her head. “Yea,” she exclaimed, “I don’t have to fix my hair today!” You see, attitude changes everything! |

Biodiversity is a great thing, ensuring that our ecosystems have the ability to function and prosper, even at times of extreme events and disease. In 2012, The scientific research crew of the French vessel Tara discovered significant amounts of plastic particles off the coast of Antarctica. Plastics have leaked their way into oceans as a result of human activity, and are having a murderous effect on marine life. |
